How to Recharge Like a BOSS
Since the turn of the New Year, we've been talking a LOT about renewal at Root Counseling. How do we recharge? Why do most of us, as women, constantly run on all cylinders and pressure ourselves to do all the things, all the time, perfectly?!
Ladies, more than ever, we need to give ourselves permission to chill. A lot of us, myself included, can fall in to a vicious cycle of working our asses off and running super hard, only to crash and burn. If we look at the word "recreation," and break it down, we can see that it's "RE-creation." Meaning to make over, to be created again.
This is a big part of our problem, both individually and collectively. We strive and push and work only to take our "two weeks vacation" each year, during which we usually crash, and then come back to work feeling like we need another vacation after our vacation.
The problem is that constantly re-creating ourselves isn't sustainable. What is, however, is cultivating a ongoing lifestyle of rest and renewal that FUELS our lives and our dreams; one that doesn't burn us out completely and then require us to dig ourselves out of a giant emotional hole to come back to life.
If we start to notice that we're totally overwhelmed a LOT of the time, it would behoove us to look at where we might start to make small, sustainable daily changes that may not seem like much, but start to add up to a greater sense of well-being and calm. This can include all sorts of tools, like practicing just 10 minutes of meditation in the morning; learning how to say NO to things we don't actually want to do; or decluttering our physical, emotional and even calendar spaces.
